In November 1974, an incident occurred in the remote village of Hasoi, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, that remains a topic of fascination among Japanese UFO researchers to this day. Multiple local residents simultaneously witnessed a UFO landing and observed small humanoid figures moving on the ground.

The event took place around 6:00 PM in the evening. Residents of Hasoi first saw a circular object emitting orange and blue light descending from the sky, hovering about 50 meters above the ground. This object was approximately 3 to 4 meters in diameter and emitted a steady humming sound.

The object slowly landed on a nearby farm field. From a distance of about 100 meters, villagers could clearly see its shape—it was disc-shaped, with a transparent hemispherical structure on top.

Then, something that left everyone stunned occurred—a small humanoid figure emerged from the bottom of the disc. This being was about 1.2 meters tall, wearing a silver, glowing jumpsuit, with a helmet-like device on its head. It quickly returned inside the craft, which then ascended vertically and flew away at extremely high speed.

Multiple villagers—including women and the elderly—provided consistent testimonies. Japanese UFO researcher Dr. Ichiro Ogura personally visited Hasoi afterward to conduct an investigation. He interviewed over 10 independent witnesses and found their descriptions to be highly consistent.

Dr. Ogura discovered physical traces in the field—four circular indentations arranged in a rectangular pattern at the landing site. Local soil samples were sent to a laboratory for analysis, which showed signs of “high-temperature scorching.”

The Japan Defense Agency (then the Japan Defense Agency) also recorded this incident. According to data obtained by Japanese UFO research organizations through information disclosure laws, internal memoranda from the Defense Agency marked the Hasoi incident as “cause unknown.”

Japan has a long history of UFO culture, but the Hasoi incident is one of the few cases involving official agency participation in investigating physical ground traces. Today, Hasoi Village has become one of the “pilgrimage sites” for Japanese UFO enthusiasts.
