Hong Kong—this international metropolis is not only a financial hub but also an active location for UFOs. In the 1990s, residents and tourists in multiple areas of Hong Kong witnessed mysterious triangular aircraft, with some even capturing them on mobile phones or cameras.

In the summer of 1994, residents of Kowloon City were the first to report seeing a black triangular flying object flying low overhead. This object had three glowing points—one at each corner—arranged in a perfect triangle. It flew slowly with absolutely no engine sound, which was particularly eerie in the dense urban environment.

Around the time of the 1997 handover, UFO sighting reports in Hong Kong became more frequent. Residents of Tuen Mun, Sha Tin, and Yuen Long all reported seeing similar black triangular objects. Some witnesses stated that these objects were roughly the size of two buses.

One of the most famous incidents occurred in August 1998. A photography enthusiast named Mr. Lam, while using a telephoto lens to capture night scenes at Victoria Park, accidentally captured an image of a triangular object flying over Central. He submitted the photo to the Hong Kong UFO Research Society for analysis. After magnification and comparison, experts concluded that the object had no visible wings, propellers, or exhaust nozzles.

Mr. Chow, a founding member of the Hong Kong UFO Research Society, analyzed that “triangular UFOs” are a unique subcategory of global UFO phenomena. Most triangular UFOs in Hong Kong are black or dark gray, with side lengths of approximately 5-15 meters. They fly at extremely slow speeds (sometimes even slower than helicopter cruising speed) but produce zero engine noise.

Cases of this type of triangular UFO have appeared in other cities—including Belgium (the famous triangular UFO wave of 1989-1990), Phoenix, USA (the 1997 Phoenix Lights), and others. However, Hong Kong’s triangular UFOs have a unique characteristic: they rarely fly high and often weave between urban buildings.
