In August 1976, four young men from Massachusetts—Jack Weiner, Jim Weiner, Charlie Foltz, and Chuck Rak—set out on a canoe trip to the Allagash Wilderness in Maine. These four guys in their early twenties never imagined this wilderness adventure would turn into a terrifying experience.

On the third night of the trip, while camping by a lake, they saw a huge glowing sphere in the night sky about 60 meters above the ground. Jack Weiner said, “Sometimes it would fly toward us, then fly away, like it was playing a game.” All four were frozen in shock and decided to quickly pack up their tent and canoes to leave. Later, they realized—they had lost several hours.

After returning home, the four began experiencing strange things individually. Jack Weiner started having terrifying recurring dreams of being taken aboard a spacecraft and examined by large-eyed gray beings. His artwork also began featuring alien-themed patterns. He decided to see a psychologist, but regular therapy didn’t help much.

In 1984, eight years after the incident, Jack was interviewed by renowned UFO researcher Raymond Fowler. Fowler suggested he undergo hypnotic regression therapy. A colleague of Harvard Medical School professor Dr. John Mack assisted with the hypnosis. The results were shocking—Jack recalled being taken aboard a spacecraft by three gray aliens, who inserted an “instrument” into his body for examination.

Charlie and Jim also underwent hypnosis separately, and the results were equally incredible. Although the details of their accounts varied—since they were taken to different areas separately—the overall narrative was completely consistent. They all remembered blue light, a floating sensation, and an intense electronic humming sound.

This case holds considerable credibility in the UFO research community for several reasons: First, four individuals independently recalled consistent content under hypnosis; second, none of them had any financial motive to fabricate the story; third, brothers Jack and Jim remained troubled and frightened by the event years later.
