May 1962: Bahía Blanca UFO Outbreak 🌟
In May 1962, Bahía Blanca in Buenos Aires Province suddenly became a global UFO focus. Throughout the month, multiple military and civilian sightings occurred consecutively:
- May 11 - Espora Air Base: Military personnel observed an unidentified object hovering over the base
- May 12: Three truck drivers on Route 35 saw an object the size of a train car land in a roadside field; as they approached, it rose, crossed the highway, and split into two parts flying in different directions
- May 21: Photographer Miguel Tohmé from La Nueva Provincia newspaper captured a “football-sized” UFO flying over Bahía Blanca—the photo made the front page the next day
- May 21-23: Personnel at Belgrano Naval Base saw UFOs for three consecutive days
This month earned Bahía Blanca the title of “Argentina’s UFO Capital.”
1978: Dionisio Llanca Abduction Case 👽
On October 27, 1978, truck driver Dionisio Llanca claimed that while changing a tire on a highway near Bahía Blanca, he was suddenly paralyzed by a bright light. He saw a flying saucer and three beings—two males and one female—who performed medical examinations on him. Hours later, he woke up to find himself 9 kilometers away in another location.
This case was investigated by renowned Argentine UFO researcher Fabio Zerpa and is included in his book El Reino Subterráneo.
1994: Buenos Aires 7,500-Person Mass Sighting 🏙️
Argentina’s most sensational UFO event occurred in 1994—a silver unidentified flying object flew over the Villa Urquiza residential area of the capital Buenos Aires. Because it was daytime with clear skies, over 7,500 people in the entire community witnessed it simultaneously. Local airport radar also captured the object’s signal heading toward General Paz Avenue.
7,500 independent witnesses, plus radar data—this case made many skeptics reconsider.
September 2023: Espora Base Shooting Incident 🔫
The most recent case is from September 2023, when residents near Espora Air Base heard a series of gunshots and explosions in the middle of the night. According to leaked information, four black triangular UFOs flew over the base that night; military personnel opened fire, and one of the UFOs emitted a laser, resulting in two to three soldiers injured.
However, base officials denied the incident, claiming the circulating videos and audio recordings were fakes.
Argentina has consistently been one of the most frequent sources of UFO reports in South America, second only to Brazil. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that many sightings involve military personnel, radar data, and numerous independent witnesses—not just simple “passing light spots.” For those seriously studying the UFO phenomenon, Argentina’s case archive is truly a treasure trove.
