1977 Dover Demon: Mysterious Alien Creature in Massachusetts

On April 21-22, 1977, a series of bizarre encounters occurred in Dover, Massachusetts — multiple local teenagers saw a small mysterious creature at different times and locations. This being, later known as the “Dover Demon,” became one of the most famous alien encounter cases in the northeastern United States.

17-year-old Bill Bartlett was the first to see the creature: about 1.2 meters tall, with a gray body as slender as a sausage, a large head and big eyes, thin limbs, and fingers that seemed to have suction cups. The strangest part was that the creature stood on a stone wall, staring at Bartlett with its large eyes.

The next night, another teenager, John Baxter, saw the same creature standing by the roadside. His description matched Bartlett’s completely. A third 15-year-old, Andrew Brodie, also saw a similar creature. Expert interviews revealed that their independent descriptions were highly consistent, and there was no motive for a hoax.
